The closest airport to Chaparrí is in Chiclayo from which there are daily flights from Lima.
Alternatively, most major Peruvian coach companies list a service to Chiclayo. Linea, Oltursa and Cruz del Sur are frequently recommended.
From Chiclayo you will travel 60km east to Sta. Catarina de Chongoyape, the nearest settlement to Chaparrí reserve. The road to Chongoyape is route 6A, a generally well maintained road which passes through Pomalca, Tumán and Pátapo. The track to the reserve is approximately 15km of unpaved road from Chonglyape and passes the Tinajones reservoir on route. All visitors need to be accompanied by a guide when navigating this track and also when visiting the reserve.

In most cases we can arrange transport from Chiclayo or from Chongoyape. If you would prefer to bring your own transportation this is fine, but you will need to book your visit in advance in either case. Please be aware that the unpaved road to Chaparrí is uneven, prone to potholes and crosses several river beds, which can be an issue in the wet season. If you bring your own vehicle it must be able to cope with such road conditions.
We ask our guests to make arrangements to visit Chaparrí in advance. This enables ACOTURCH to schedule a local guide and for your transport requirements to be considered.
